Student dies in Highway 34 accident
19-year-old woman from Newport was living in Corvallis, attending LBCC

Tuesday morning a Corvallis woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 34, according to Oregon State Police.Amber Renee Kent, 19, of Newport, was living in Corvallis and attending Linn-Benton Community College.
Lt. Mark Cotter confirmed Kent had a Corvallis address and Linn Benton Community College confirmed she was a student there.
At approximately 8:40 a.m., a 1992 Geo Metro heading eastbound on Highway 34 crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2006 Honda Pilot driving westbound, police said.
Kent was the driver of the Geo Metro. The driver of the Honda, 61-year-old Leslie Ann Howard, of Albany, was taken to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis with non life-threatening injuries, police said.
Each woman was alone in her vehicle. Both vehicles ended up in a ditch on the north side of the roadway.
The highway was completely re-opened by 1 p.m. Tuesday.
An investigation is being conducted by the Albany Patrol Office of OSP, with assistance from members of the Multi-Agency Accident Investigation Team from the Sweet Home Police Department, the Albany Department and the Linn County Sheriff's Office. The investigation is ongoing.
