Seth Thomas, 165-pound redshirt freshman, led No. 9 Oregon State to two victories this past weekend in what were easily the best two performances of his young career.
Thomas started out his memorable weekend when he sparked Oregon State’s 50-0 win over Cal Poly with a pin in the first match of the meet Friday night in Gill Coliseum.
Thomas followed his first dual pin of his career with another one Saturday afternoon, this time capping things for the Beavers with a pin in the final match of the meet to seal a 42-4 win. Thomas was the only Beaver to post two pins during the weekend, earning the maximum 12 points for his team leading to the two blowouts.
The Roseburg wrestler has now won four of his five dual matches of the season and his career, including his last three.
Thomas wasn’t in the lineup for most of the season, but has been a revelation at the 165-pound weight class for Oregon State as of late; acting as a catalyst for a Beaver team experiencing its best wrestling of the year.
Thomas will likely remain in the 165-pound slot for the Regional Duals this coming weekend.
If Oregon State is to advance to National Duals, Thomas will undoubtedly play a pivotal role.
